Vesak 2022 Message

☸️☸️☸️ 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐕𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐤 ☸️☸️☸️

On behalf of the Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia, I would like to begin by paying tribute to all Venerable Sangha Members, Dhamma Teachers, Buddhists Leaders and Benefactors for contributing so much for the Buddha Sasana to flourish, even during such tiring and trying times of the pandemic.

Once again, millions of Buddhists all over the world will gather to commemorate the Birth, Enlightenment, and Passing of the Sakyamuni Buddha.

It’s a good sign, that after two years of Covid restrictions, many Buddhist temples and centres are opened to welcome their devotees to celebrate Vesak physically instead of being constrained to Vesak activities online.

Gratitude is the first lesson we learnt from the Buddha when he attained Enlightenment. He gazed at the Bodhi tree in gratitude, for providing him shelter during his search for Enlightenment. We too, can be grateful. Even as life is slowly but surely moving back to normal soon, let us not forget the frontliners who continue to work tirelessly during this pandemic. Let us remember with gratitude, those who have contribute through cash and kind not only during the pandemic but also during natural disasters such as the recent flood and landslides. The times have been challenging but it has forged our collective mettle and we emerge as one community of Malaysian, helping one another. These moments of strength and positivity continue to shine brightly and perfectly embodies the Malaysian theme for Vesak 2022, “Promote harmony through mutual respect and helping others”

As we celebrate Vesak, may we continue to lend a helping hand to those in need.

On behalf of the Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia, I wish you a happy and significant Vesak.

Lee Kok Cheng

President

Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia.
