Yesterday, the Fo Guang Disaster Response Team, led by Venerable Zhi Shuan and Quah Bee Fong, President of BLIA Central Malaysia Dongzen 6th Sub-chapter, arrived safely in Myanmar with a team of 11 members, including two doctors - Prof. Chin Kin Fah and Dr. Lim Chi Pei. They brought along 350 kilograms of medicine, food and essentials, ensuring their personal luggage was kept to a minimum to maximise their aid efforts.
In the afternoon, they headed to the main market to purchase nearly 3,000 kilograms of additional medicine and food supplies. To access to the disaster area, they not only needed visas but also an invitation letter issued from the local officials, which is crucial for the smooth entry into Mandalay for their relief work.
At 5.00am this morning, the team set off to Mandalay in a big bus. The journey was challenging, with many roads around the disaster area damaged and cracked, resulting in a lengthy 12-hour trip to reach their destination.
