The Āsālha month in the Life of the Buddha

The Āsālha month culminates with the Āsālha Pūjā
(which falls on Saturday 8 July 2017) and is well known as ‘Dhamma Day’ when the Buddha delivered the first sermon to the five ascetics, being the start of his forty five years of dhammaduta.

Āsālha month also celebrates other important events in the life of Prince Siddhattha, Ascetic Gotama, and finally Gotama the Buddha.
